Two concerts this weekend!

This weekend, I’m fortunate enough to have two concerts featuring my compositions… happening simultaneously! At 7:30 pm on Saturday at Immanuel Congregational Church in Hartford, the professional chorus Voce is offering a program titled, “Byrds and B’s,” and they’re singing two of my a cappella choral works, “Afternoon on a hill” and “As there are flowers.” Here’s a sneak peak of “As there are flowers,” as conducted by Voce director Mark Singleton — they sound stunning!!!

Also at 7:30 on Saturday, the Notre Dame High School Chorus and Concert Band will be presenting a concert at Battell Chapel in New Haven. The Concert Band, directed by David Roach, will premiere my new piece, “Fantasy on American Spirituals,” which is an arrangement of “Let us break bread together” and “Were you there.” I’ve been lucky enough to attend a few rehearsals for this program, and the band sounds terrific! Also on the program, the NDHS Chorus, directed by my good friend Arianne Abela, will reprise a performance of my setting of Psalm 23, which was commissioned by Notre Dame as part of the same composer-in-residence program. You can watch and hear a beautiful performance of that piece from their December concert here.

I hope you’re able to make one of these fantastic concerts–I’m going to do my best to be in two places at once!
